GTA 6 unlock time by time zone

GTA 6 launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you bought it digitally, the game does not open at the same clock time everywhere — it unlocks at one moment worldwide, and what that moment looks like on your clock depends on your time zone. Digital preloads open a week earlier, on November 12, 2026, so the download can be finished and waiting well before unlock.

When can I preload?

Digital preloads open on Thursday, November 12, 2026 — a full week before launch — for anyone who has pre-ordered the digital edition on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Start the download as soon as it appears and leave your console in rest mode so it finishes in good time.

Preloading only downloads the game files. A finished preload does not let you play early: the game stays locked until the unlock time in the table above, wherever you are.

What if I bought the disc?

Physical copies play as soon as you have the disc in your console — there is no time-zone unlock to wait for. If your copy arrives on launch day, you can put it in and play.

Expect a day-one update to download and install before you start, so build that waiting time into your launch-day plans and make sure your console is connected and updated the night before.

Does Xbox unlock at the same time?

For the digital edition, yes — the Xbox Series X|S version is expected to unlock at the same moment as PS5: midnight Eastern on November 19, 2026, and at the matching local times in the table above. Neither Rockstar nor Xbox has confirmed platform-specific unlock times yet, so if either store announces something different, this page will be updated.

One caution: changing your console's region settings to chase an earlier unlock can break preorders and store access. It is not worth the risk for a few hours.
